It Will Last Longer

Finished and working, finally. Yeesh.

I wanted a simple modern frame that I could devote solely to photos of my sims. I wanted it in a bunch of sizes, horizontal and vertical rotations, on walls and surfaces, with two different matte options, and all slaved together. So this is 40 meshes plus two master objects that do not show up in the catalog. You can delete any of the meshes except the two Master meshes and the set will still work, so feel free to mix and match sizes and matte options. I'm also including 58 recolors of the frame. They are frames in Aelia's Jewel tones with white mattes, and white frames with mattes in Aelia's Jewel tones.

You also have the option of downloading 505 recolors of the photo featuring sims from my game. I'm not sure why you would want this, since the whole idea is to put your own sims in... but I know some people aren't used to SimPe: so have at 'em.

Last but not least, a photoshop template for making your own pics.

So that's the important info, but I want to share two other quick notes about these frames. First, they conform to the Down Low project. So the wall versions are not super useful unless you can shift paintings around. The surface ones should still work fine though. I intended these for photo collages, so I've lined up all the meshes so that the bottom edges are even. Like so:

I have also placed them so that if you move them down one click they will reset a height of 1/2 click. If that sentence didn't make any sense, have a picture:

The left frame has been moved up 3 clicks, the right up four clicks, but the center frame went DOWN 1 click then up 4 clicks. See! It's right in the middle of 3 and 4 clicks. It works that way for all of the wall hanging meshes. In order to make that happen for all of the sizes, I had to get rid of the shadows. I thought it was a small price to pay.

Well I think that's it. Enjoy!

Edit: I thought of one more thing! If you make any recolors please let me know. I'd love to both have them and link to them from here.

Thanks so so much for this! These are gorgeous and very useful. And I just wanted to say finding this was the last straw-I had to learn how to recolor paintings. After about an hour, I've figured it out. *cue fireworks* I'm definitely going to have a go at making recolors. So thank you for the amazing inspiration too. :DDDDD

Hey! I finally felt confident enough to give your meshes a try, but I'm running into a small problem. I've been recoloring maxis meshes using simpe templates and photostudio. Do I need to create a simpe template for the two meshes or is there some other way to recolor the photos and I'm missing it? So sorry to bug you with this. I'll continue my google search as well and see if I come up with any solutions. Thanks again! :D

These are so very awesome, but I have a quick question. Are the just frames we put over the pictures in game or do we actually make recolors using our screen shots. Either way I'm uber stoked and ready to test them out.

I really love this set. Does it need Ikea Stuff bc it's the only stuff pack I don't have and I can't seem to find the frames in the catalog.

Thanks!

OK, that's it, I can't take it anymore! I am LEARNING how to recolor if it's the last thing I do because I NEED THESE IN MY GAME.

These are so beautiful, you've done a fantastic job on them. I do have one stupid question, though. How did you get them to all fit so perfectly in a collage format like that in the screenshot? Or did you just have to use moveobjects and not have them go down with the walls? :X

I hope I'm not too late

You know, it took me hours to figure this out. I'm sure it's mostly me being a beginner when it comes to SimPE but it would be nice to link to a tutorial on the main post. I followed the instructions on the tutorial that I found in the comments but I had to work around some of the instructions as they weren't applicable to what I was trying to do. There were parts that were left out too, and I also did not know where/how to put the photo on the template exactly. Anyway, I was able to sort it out in the end but it would be nice to have a tutorial for people like me who might want to try using this - the frames are really pretty and neat after all :)

So I just tried using my recolors in game and they work, but I could not put them on surfaces like you have on your cover photo. How do I do that? Whenever I try to put the smaller picture frames (or any size of the picture frames actually) on a surface they won't get on it. I tried doing the same with the Ikea paintings I'm assuming you cloned these from and they won't get on the surface either. Recolors of your frame made by other people also seem to only hang on walls. So yeah, how do you do it? lol.

Thanks for your wonderful creations. They're beautiful and I earned a lot of SimPE EXP thanks to them :)

I figured out that the wall/surface versions were on different categories. A read-me file would've been nice.

Question about recolors

[personal profile] gfitz 2015-01-26 08:21 am (UTC)(link)
I've been looking at the .psd and the Master mesh trying to figure out how to add my own images and am baffled. I use simPE all the time to recolor but this escapes me. I'd love a little guidance if you have the time. These frames are awesome. I just can't connect the dots for recoloring.

Thanks!
